Love this location, so much history and lots of info on the area. Angela and her staff are so welcoming and knowledgeable about the house and local history.
We went for a Jacobite reenactment of the Battle of Culloden. It was very well done; the actors effectively conveyed the horrors of war. We took a tour of the house afterwards. We chatted with a few of the people there (my guess is they were all volunteers) and they were very friendly and knowledgeable about both the Backus-Page history and the history of that time in general. It's a bit of a drive from St Thomas, but worth it.
The place is a gem! A must visit and be sure to walk around the grounds and trails. Just up the road a bit, a short walk, is a very cool cemetery that has a special guest hurried there, Col. Talbot.
Anyway, a great place and a nice drive out there.
This is a pretty cool place. They have decent outdoor out houses lol
Sabrina our tour guide was super knowledgeable. Gave us loads of extra information about the area and history. Made our impromptu stop an enjoyable one. Next time we're traveling we will be sure to hike the trail on the beautiful homestead.
