I have to be cautious about praising the course for its conditions and layout because then too many people will flock to Tarandowah, but it is a great course. Tough. Not for novices, but it is spectacular. Greens are fast and run true. Second best public course under $80 in Canada after Ambassador and for good reason. Bring your "A' game.
One of the most unique golf clubs in the province and it gives you a true links experience. The staff is super helpful, knowledgeable and cheerful. I can't recommend Tarandowah enough.
This is a true test. Too tough for me. I have played it several times from the white tees, and was still hitting fairway woods in on many of the par fours. It's a bit shaggy, but I think that's the intentional links design. No complaint about condition of fairways and greens. I can't imagine how tough this course would be on a windy day. It is a beauty, but also a beast. Next time, from the forward tees, I'll see if it suits me better. After reading owner's response to my review, I added a star. It's a good point.
Fantastic links course. First time playing there and everyone was very friendly and professional. I felt the grounds were in fantastic shape especially the fairways. The greens were fast and break true. Although, in spots around fairways some serious work was happening in small patches and some spots where construction refuse had been piled.
Last but not least, some friendly people returned my lost jacket with all my expensive and personal belongings and the course was quick to help me out even after I had already left.
Much respect has been earned from me today. Definitely returning :)
New owners appear to be doing a good job so far. Priced reasonably, excellent customer service and the course is in great shape.
This ' links style' course is playable for all levels of golfers and offers a layout that requires a variety of well thought out shots.
My only suggestions would be to let the fescue grow a little higher, open up the half way shack for drinks/snacks etc and offer a senior's rate.
Looking forward to playing again and seeing more changes the new owners of this course have planned.
