“The trails have been pretty much destroyed due to rising lake levels. If you are looking for an easy walk through the forest this is not the place for you. If you are outdoorsy, have long pants on and bug spray proceed. There is only on trail option as the beach trail is under water. When you get to the big red flag turn right and follow the little flags on the forest floor.”

“Beautiful rustic feel, with a stunning patio. Beautiful view of the lake and of the ferry pier. (See attached photo) They boast a small but delicious menu, amazing beers, wine and cocktails also available. Staff was super friendly, and even when super busy always made sure to check up on tables and get anything we needed. There is also a gift shop on the premises that sells local crafts and souvenirs. Highly recommend a visit for a beautiful sit down meal!”

“So this is for Pelee in general... We came over with bikes only. It's a nice place, but not a lot to do here other than bike or Sun. The winery was not open when we came. There are few gift shops, a restaurant and a few fast food counters. Beaches on the east side are nice. No services campground had nice first come first serve lots and they are in trees and on grass - quite nice. There is a store on the campground, but it wasn't open when we first visited. The bike trails are just rough gravel and grass, through bush they aren't too bad. This trail was on the east side, paralleling East Beach Road. This trail was not a stone-dust surface like most. For biking, you can find a paved route, but you might end up on gravel. Gravel roads are fairly rough, especially for race bikes. We'll likely return for a weekend of camping and biking.”

“I'm giving the Westview 5 stars because it was clean and served my needs perfectly. It's not a fancy hotel, hence the name "motel". It is what it is - an unpretentious place to crash at night. I was in room #2 and the bed was very comfortable... the pillows were firmer than I'd prefer, but I got by. The air conditioning unit didn't really blow cold air, so if it's really hot during the day don't expect it to be like an icebox in the room. The bathroom was small all the way around, but it was fine. No complaints. My friend and I brought our bicycles and there was ample room to store the bikes in our rooms. The new(er) plastic Adirondack chairs outside the rooms were actually very comfy. Stacy, the manager, was super friendly, as was her sister that was tending bar at the Westview Tavern. For the adventurer that is going to be out seeing the island all day the Westview is a great place to stay.”

“Our experience here was great! Remembering that it's a pandemic and this is an isolated island they are doing amazingly well! There was 1 waitress serving all 10 packed tables! She was amazing! I have never seen a server work harder. Our service was great and the food was outstanding! The fish is top notch. We also tried the chicken wings (hand breaded) and the hamburgers. Everything was great! They are the only restaurant open on the island and get packed especially around the time for the last ferry, so plan accordingly!”

“Excellent bikes in great condition at a fair price - helmet included! But his service went above and beyond the call of duty for me yesterday. I was running late returning from the lighthouse and trying to get back to the ship before it left at 4pm (you're technically supposed to be there a half hour before they leave). I was already exhausted and dehydrated so I couldn't peddle as fast as at the start. So I'm racing back as fast as I could and it looked like I would miss the boat by a few minutes and have to stay the night on the island (and rent a cottage) But the owner must have anticipated my situation. He met me on the road as I reached his place and told me to keep pedaling to the dock so I could buy my ticket. He said he would pick up the bike later. Well thank God he did that or I'd have missed the boat for sure. I got my ticket and ran to the boat. I got on just in time seconds before 4:00pm. They radioed in right after to start lowering the front of the ship and departed soon after. I was by far the last person onboard. So what a nice thing for him to do. He made no money doing that but he saved me probably over $100 to rent a cottage or stay at a B&B. So rent your bikes here!”

“You know the accommodations are great when they become one of your favourite parts of the trip. The Wandering Dog Inn is incredibly special and made our adventure to Pelee Island an amazing getaway. Cathy and Kevin were the perfect hosts; warm, helpful, and chalk-full of good stories and island history. Visits from their uber-friendly dog, Fred, were an added bonus. The breakfast was excellent and they built us a bonfire for one of the warm fall evenings. The cabins are beautiful and immaculately clean, with super comfortable beds, charcoal barbecues, and kitchen basics. Each cabin has a large, private screened-in porch — perfect for having an afternoon nap in the slung-up hammock, or a glass of wine and a game of crib while listening to the waves crashing on the coast, just down the road. The grounds, gardens, and main house feel like a step back in time, and are totally picture-worthy. We loved our time on Pelee Island - the slow-down mentality, friendly locals, beautiful landscapes, and the unique wildlife. It was everything an escape from the daily grind should be, and The Wandering Dog inn made us feel completely relaxed, comfortable, and connected to the Island so we could really take it all in.
