Especially magical during a new moon!!
Either we are alone in this universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying
Was tracking the lunar phase and weather for 2 weeks to get this perfect alignment of no moon darkness, cloud cover and weather condition for dark sky gazing
North frontenac dark sky preseve was nothing short of a surprise. More than worth the 3 hour drive from Toronto. The skies were still cloudy 2 hours out but as we approached Greater Napanee, nature was kind on us
Reached around 1 am and spent a wonderful 3 hours watching the transcending core and tail of our milky way galaxy in the naked eye.
Shooting stars, relatively slow travelling satellites and a billion star clusters, deep space is nothing short of amusement.
It was very surprising to see the sun light beginning to wash off all the stars around 3.30 am and begin to lighten the horizon.
Nice big place and not very crowded. There is a residence neighboring the lot. The house is lit at night so it kind of seems out of place in a dark sky preservation but it's not too bright. There is parking and two outhouses.
Spectacular view, a great way to get out of the city and to enjoy the peaceful night!
I went here last summer and we were planning to stay for a long time, but we didn't even last 15 minutes because of all of the swarms of horseflies, blackflies, and mosquitoes. I think it'd be better to come here around autumn or early spring when there wont be so many bugs, overall great view of the sky, we didn't get to see any stars or stuff like that but I wish we could have stayed longer.
