The best! Beautiful lake to be on in the summer and lots of great trails in the winter. Bring extra toilet paper! It's not always in the outhouse
One of my favorite places to go for a walk with the kids. Nice trails through the forest, and a great little sandy shore.
Great conservation area, beautiful and a variety of paths we have yet to explore. Spent a couple of hours on one path, one follows along the lake and was beautiful. Our hike was a couple of days ago, wonderful autumn colours. We will return in the spring and explore more.
Great little beach with lots of space to swim. Parking can get harder on busy days but the clean water and beautiful space are worth it. There are outhouses and change sheds and they rent canoes in the summer. Bring your own water and snacks as they don't have any on site.
March 2018 : It was a cold and brisk morning when we came to Gould Lake - the last time I'd been here was in grade 7 - so seeing the old building brought back some great memories.
The trails are not groomed, and I was still walking with a cane, so we followed the footprints of others before us, and trundled to the beach and frozen bay, along the treeline to the marsh and back to the car.
Back at the gatehouse, we went for a second walk along the closed road for awhile and listened to the birds.
July 2018 : Summertime at Gould Lake is heavenly.
Sure, it's busy with kids from summer camp, and families at the beach front, but picturesque, and the resounding laughter from everyone having fun is infectious.
We rented two kayaks and paddled off, we followed the shoreline, in and out of bays when we came to a series of islands which we used to play connect the dots to the other side and once again, followed the shoreline with its changing scenery.
If Mike has changed into his swimsuit before we left, we would've pulled off on the shore - or and island! - to have a dip in the warm and clear waters.
Alas, we paddled back to Gould beach so he could change and we swam around the bay, and out the mini peninsula. Back on land, we enjoyed our picnic while relaxing at the waterfront. Eventually we changed and headed back home very late in the afternoon.
August 2018 : Back again to paddle the lake and we bought a pass to CRCA so we can hike at Gould Lake all through the year until next summer!
