A really nice piece of early 1900s history of Burlington. The museum staff are very knowledgeable, and take their time to explain the house, the culture, history, and the living conditions of the family that lived there.
To start, I need to check the place out again during the normal times of the year. But for now I'm basing it on the Christmas event they hosted recently.
It was severely overcrowded, overpriced and a mere fraction of the sights that you would receive at somewhere like Bronte park. Only a few km away.
I was quite unimpressed at the complete lack of parking during the event as well.
The kids had a fun enough time I suppose after we battled the lines.
Only reason I'm not lowering the rating is because of the chance it could be fun with no crowds. I'll go back in the spring or summer months and try again.
This is an enjoyable local museum with a wealth of youth programs that are affordable. I appreciate the selection and variety of the activists. It is a small is a local museums on a small plot of land that you'd almost miss it. Complete with a gift shop tours and staff that dress the part. This place is worth a visit as it always has events for people to partake in. Parking is available, handicap access and prices are reasonable.
This museum is the historic homestead of the Ireland family. Easily accessible off Guelph Line. Staff were all friendly and I enjoyed the guided tour. It would be nice if the museum restored the top floor and provided access to the workers' quarters.
Wonderful little gem. Had no idea this place was here ! Our tour was great and the guide was lovely. She was very patient and able to answer any question our students had about various items within the house or the families that lived there.
