Beautiful handcrafted guitars
Dave and Ardell have an intimate and well-tooled shop that's absolutely perfect for luthier instruction. Dave's stringed instrument designs are deeply researched and his passion is clear and friendly. He's my dad, I love him, so I'm biased, but as impartially as I can: he's a very good builder of fine instruments, and is SUPER awesome to get along with.
Having taken DnA Ryer Guitars course, I can tell you that you will not regret building a guitar under Dave's guidance. He is very professional and extremely patient. He helped me create my guitar the way I wanted it. It looks awesome and sounds amazing. I hope to build another with him sometime soon.
I had some basic carpentry skills, but was concerned that i wouldn't be able to build a quality instrument. With Dave's guidance, I learned some great skills and ultimately, produced a guitar that I am very proud to say i built with my own sweat and blood. It looks and sounds better than any i've played - probably because its 100% mine.
After i was finished, I realized the guitar wasn't the most important thing that I got out of this course. It was the hours of work in Dave's shop with him providing patient instruction and making sure my guitar was going to turn out great. it was the conversation and laughs that we had throughout the whole experience. I can honestly say, the hours spent in Dave's shop were some of the most enjoyable i've had. If you are thinking of doing it, you won't be disappointed.
Dave, the craftsmanship and physical beauty of you guitars is only the beginning - their sound is amazing! Keep up the great work.
