Midwives Of Muskoka

The level of care provided by the Muskoka Midwives cannot be overstated or over exaggerated. Dawn Dawson and Keatha Walsh helped me welcome my son and did so with more grace and support than I could ever say I received from a health care practitioner. I will sincerely miss them both once I am discharged from care. The labour and delivery experience was made even better by knowing I had these incredible women beside me while doing one of the most challenging things I've ever done. The prenatal care I received was second to none. So far the post partum care has been exceptional. So far my husband and I haven't decided on continuing our family past our son-but if we do, it will be welcomed and followed with the Muskoka Midwives

My feelings about my experience with my midwife Melissa from MoM cannot be put into words. My husband and I always felt respected, heard and never rushed through the prenatal period. When my son was born, there were some minor complications and Melissa was so calm and helpful at educating us about what was going on. She fought for our wishes in our hospital birth and brought him into the world safely. The postpartum care was unreal and even better than the prenatal care which I thought was incredible also. I highly recommend their services.

I delivered my son safely at home almost 9 years ago. These women...these AMAZING women who let me know that my body was amazing and to trust my instincts, are the reasons why midwives are SO IMPORTANT.
I delivered my 2nd son via c-section 4 years later. Breech babies can throw a wrench into your plans, but I felt worthy and powerful and ready to make a decision based on the information that they gave to me. It was amazing. While still being tended to by the surgeon in the OR, Sarah-Jean had my baby on my breast immediately.
Losing another 2 pregnancies early on left me feeling deflated and incompetent. But my midwives were there for me. Confirming my strength and my body's amazing abilities to know what's best. I was allowed to grieve and cry and mourn without feeling like I failed.

The level of care the Muskoka Midwives offer in our community is unbeatable. We are very fortunate to have these women available. They are extremely professional; they provide informed choice and stand by your side. Their compassion and knowledge kept me at ease through out both my pregnancies and births. I was able to experience both a hosiptal birth and home water birth with exactly the support I needed. The aftercare is phenomenal and breastfeeding advice and encouragement kept me going through those first few weeks. And they come to you !! There is no other way to have a baby.
