Picnic Island Resort

Nice place for a mini getaway. Cottages are cute. Snack bar. Sandy beaches.

Picnic Island Resort is a great destination for a family getaway with the kids to a simple fishing trip. It's located on Georgian Bay and is minutes away from some of Canada's greatest boating, fishing and hiking. Picnic Island Resort offers a number of one to three bedroom cottages, spots to camp and set-up your trailer. It also has a well stocked store and fuel for your boat. The Picnic Island store is also a destination for boaters from around the Honey Harbour area to come and grab ice cream and watch the boats as they pass by. Above all the owners and staff are amazing and take great care of the resort but most of all their guests.

Picnic Island Resort is a beautiful location. It is mostly long term trailers but there are also several cabins to rent. There is a small store with the necessities. It has an ice cream bar and bakery along with basic food items and a gas station. The smell of fresh baked goods on a cool spring or fall morning is to die for. For people camping, there is a mixture of outhouses and more traditional bathrooms available. There are also (paid) showers available. There is a nice little beach and swimming area with a sandy bottom. There is also an area to launch boats and the fishing up there is fantastic. I am here several times per year and always enjoy it.

We love going to Picnic Island. We take our boat there regularly. The young men at the gas pumps did a good job and were helpful docking the boat. The ladies at the ice cream stand and store were good, but they could have been a bit more pleasant, we found them a bit short with some customers at the ice cream area. They have a new extended menu at the smoker now which is nice also.

A staff member ran down the dock to help us land and tie up our boat at the store dock. The cashier was very friendly and courteous. Definitely getting it done right here. Great place to stop on the water in Honey Harbour!
