Earl Of Sussex Pub

I don't go to this place often because it's not on my beaten path but when I do go it never ceases to amaze me how much at home I feel... I should go more often! It's a great place in a great location with great friendly staff!

Fun pub with nice food and drinks, and good service. Stopped by for an afternoon snack after a trip to the National Gallery of Canada.

Chicken fingers were good. So was my IPA! Interior of the pub is cute too.

Stopped here on my first Ottawa trip to see the watering holes my fiance used to frequent during her time in Ottawa. We came on a Saturday night. Seated on the patio we turned to the menu and saw it was $4.95 top shelf bourbon. Great price for some good Woodford Reserve! We also had a burger and fries. $9.95 any burger on the menu. Great deal and great burger!
Gabriel the bartender was awesome. Even though there was a private party inside he was catering to he took the time to come out and make sure we were being well taken care of.
Absolutely stellar service and great prices. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Ottawa.

Beautiful location and the prices are excellent. I've been there many times and it has always been pleasant, so I'm only taking off one star for my experience this past Saturday (aug 14). Our server (don't know if he was a manager but he seemed like one) was not wearing a mask (everyone else working was) and he just seemed kind of annoyed that we were there. He was being super friendly with other customers but we just got the bare minimum interaction, and we were perfectly cheery and polite to him so I'm not sure where that came from. Maybe he was trying to seem "cool" and laid back? It came off more rude.

Would definitely go to the Earl again but will hope I am not served by that guy. He made me feel unwelcome. He should also be wearing a mask.

Reply to response below: I did not include a time so I don't see how he can possibly know which table I was, and that particular day was actually quite chilly. 23 degrees is hardly a heat wave. But oh well.

We had an awesome meal at the Earl of Sussex pub in Ottawa today. Their outdoor patio was spacious and tidy. Our meals were so good- we had the club sandwich and the fish sandwich. Our server Shannon was outstanding! She was handling so many tables and she was always courteous, polite and efficient. She totally deserves a raise! I would absolutely eat here again.
