We had a wonderful time here. The service was excellent. The oysters are the best quality I've had in Ottawa, with the fresh horseradish too! We really appreciated them changing the wine out for us, we didn't like it. And it was my fault, I said it was okay so they poured the glasses and then we realized we really didn't like it. We had a fantastic dinner here and left super happy.
Charming dinner spot on Somerset. Cozy vibes. We shared a couple appetizers for dinner. The trout crudo ($21) was tasty and came with nice crispy rice chips. The matane shrimp toast ($19) was seasoned beautifully and was my personal favorite. The swordfish carbonara ($24) was just alright. Wish portions were a little bigger for price point. I enjoyed a glass of the chenin blanc to start and then shared a bottle of the chilled Argentinian light red which was featured. The chilled red was quite refreshing! Finally for dessert, we shared the duo of eclairs. The coffee cream one was our favorite.
It is a charming little restaurant with excellent services. I really like the atmosphere here, lots of personality and cozy.
The piri piri grilled fish is good. It is nicely seasoned and flakey. The roasted pepper needs a bit more charred. Super yummy dish! Take me back to Algarve.
The salmon was very good but the fries under it was way over cooked. The exterior part was hard to chew. However the combination of the potatoes, cream, salmon and the herb is great, very yummy.
I did not enjoy the coconut pavlova, it was overly sweet with zero taste of coconut and the strawberry was sour. They nailed the texture but the flavour was very lacking.
What a phenomenal experience. Incredible food, beautiful atmosphere and wonderful service. Each dish is completely unique with unexpected and exciting flavors and garnishing. You can feel the love and passion that is put into the food they serve.
Food would easily suit a fine dining restaurant, casual/cozy environment, excellent service, fantastic cocktails. We will definitely come here again and absolutely recommend the place.
Our meal included four cocktails (Friki Tiki, the coffee one, a thyme one, and a Whiskey orange martini), an espresso, sourdough bread, torched mackerel, swordfish carbonara, and aged trout, and two eclairs each. The portions were thankfully smaller so we left comfortably full, and spent around $200 for all that fabulous food. 10/10
