Follows COVID safety procedures well. They need to buzz you in to confirm you have an appointment before asking the COVID screening questions. I didn't have difficulties with any of the staff and they were all helpful and professional. Seems like they are shorthanded as I had to wait to see a nurse when it wasn't too busy.
Love my doctor here, but the people who answer the phone here are rude lately and have neglected to fax the pharmacy when they said they would about medication refills when I can’t get an appointment for a month. They also referred to the accessible parking as “handicapped” parking when I asked about it. It’s called accessible parking. Get your terminology right and stop insulting people.
I arrived a little early for the 1:00 Thursday opening and was expecting to stand in a line. Instead was greeted by the front desk person, registered and given an intake form and sat to fill it out. The form was wonderfully inclusive in the choices it offered, and plain-language. The clinic is bright and colourful, with loads of helpful info, posters, pamphlets. I was seen by a nurse practitioner who was professional, thorough and friendly. The entire visit took under a half hour, but a longer wait wouldn't have been uncomfortable.
It is important NOT to rely on the 'Google' blurb at the right hand side of your search results. While the hours listed can be accessed there, these don't coincide with the information on the Health Centre's website. There it clearly indicates that on Thursday telephone access is not available until 13:00 or 1:00 pm. I have been with "Somerset West" for seventeen years and have only good things to say. A Nurse Practitioner at the walk-in clinic helped me realize that I might have prostate issues, and It was with the help of my family doctor and her referrals I was able to obtain needed treatment for the Cancer that was growing. I am in remission.
