Course was in decent shape and is the only reason I'm even giving it 3 stars. The layout of the holes is questionable. Must have been designed by someone that's never been on a golf course before.
Course is a bit disorganized, but overall best value in Ottawa (currently 15$+tax for 9 holes on a weekday), especially for a 9 hole non-weekend golfer like myself. Front 9 is more open and could be somewhat boring for a good golfer, back 9 is shorter but many tricky and well designed holes.
This country course plays casually and offers some good challenges for golfers of all skill levels. Don't recommend driving the green on hole 2. FORE!
One of the friendliest most affordable courses around. Not a top tier track but a decent challenge for the average hacker. Relatively short overall. Front nine is a little longer but also far more open. Back 9 is shorter and a lot tighter. Well placed irons or fairway woods off the tee are rewarded there is some room but errant shots can be severely penalized. Definitely not much opportunity to hit driver on the back unless you are a very long and accurate bomber. I actually like that a lot as it seems most courses now, you have to pull driver off most tees. It’s an easy course to walk but the carts are very affordable if you prefer to ride.
There are some cons: the bugs can be bad on the back 9 and the fairways aren’t the most manicured at the best of times and really dry out in any sustained drought. Greens are well kept overall but it seems far too many golfers don’t fix their ball marks.
I used to be a member years back in my early twenties but life got in the way and my kids are just old enough now that the wife and I can get out a lot more. The price, the work the new owner and his staff and how friendly and accommodating they are is what keeps us coming back.
Very enjoyable course with attentive and friendly staff. We played a foursome for a twilight 18. There were no carts available but the owner/manager offered us each a free beer if we were walking it. He then gave us complimentary carts for the back 9. The front nine are forgiving with lots of room for error on the drive and approach shots but the back 9 is a very challenging lot with twists, turns, natural hazards and pretty some all-around tough holes. Fairways and greens were in mixed condition but most holes were well-maintained during a season without much rain. Fun round and will return.
