Dagu Rice Noodle Ottawa

New experience, good customer service and reasonable price.

Good quality rice noodle soup to enjoy. The name DaGu means 'Big Drum'. Indeed, the boiling soup with rich flavour and bouncy rice noodle soaked in does drum up the soul and spirit, when one walks into the place with an empty tummy. Reportedly, the soup stock takes a whole day to prepare from fresh ingredients. No wonder the flavour was so good. It can be noticed that waitress attempted to deliver a good service, however, perhaps it could take a bit more training so that the waitress could master the art of waiting the table.

Food is great. But customer service is average, my daughter was sleeping in the stroller and the mattress asked us to leave the stroller at the gate. It is like our stroller is troublesome, however all parents know why we need that, we don't like taking it with us either, I guess the mattress will understand when she has a baby. Overall, it is good.

My first visit to Dagu was not completely, how do I describe it?Satisfactory?
I came for lunch with my friend, as we both like to explore new restaurants. Here's my experience.

Food: was pretty good, and we both agreed. The soup, the appetizers...

Attitude: lack enthusiasm, the young lady was cute but her attitude was a little under average, never check on us until we flagged her down, all the servers have similar attitude. However, only one young man with glasses that came to our table at the end of our meal had the absolute pleasant and professional manner.

Service: My friend's order came and mine didn't, the bowl of noodle was getting cold and the broth never arrived. I waited patiently until I saw 3 tables got served, these customers arrived after us and after our order sheet was submitted. They were enjoying their food, and yet, I was still waiting...
I decided to ask for mine, and told that they were going to check, by that time my friend was almost finished with her, although she was eating very slowly waiting with me for my order to arrive. The broth came 10 minutes later. My friend's add-on meatballs never came until we mentioned again near the end of the meal.

Environment: very nice, clean and comfortable.

I have to agree with one of the customer's comment - we also felt neglected throughout the dining experience because we did not speak Mandarin. The servers prioritized Mandarin speaking customers before us and had a different attitude towards Mandarin speaking customers.
I hope to see the improvement in this area, after all, we are your customers.

I am giving a 3 stars for the good taste of the food, I would prefer to give it 2½ due the service, but there is no half star.

Decided to try this place for an early weekday dinner. Our family of 2 adults and 3 kids arrived Wednesday at around 4:30pm. The restaurant is very spacious and the decor is very nice and clean. Although we were early for dinner, there were still groups of people spread out at various sized tables.

As this was our first time there, the girl serving us was very helpful at helping us select some dishes. For appetizers, we settled with the Spicy Braised Beef Shank, Salty Crispy Chicken, and Marinated Braised Pork Bone. The shank and chicken were the best out of the three.

For our mains, we chose the Sour & Spicy Flavoured Rice Noodle with XiangXi Pulled Beef and the Tomato Flavoured Crossing the Bridge Rice Noodle Soup with Beef Slices to share. The sour and spicy soup was definitely more flavourful but the tomato soup would be a good non spicy choice with hints of tomato flavour. The only negative would be the amount of protein but they do give you unlimited rice noodles.

Not sure if the time was a factor but all the food arrived quickly and service was very good. We will definitely come back to try other things on the menu!
