Wellington Diner

We stopped here for a bite to eat as we strolled along Wellington st. In Ottawa. We sat out on their patio to enjoy the beautiful day.
The decor for the patio was very pleasing, earthy colors complimented the environment.
We sat to just have just a cold drink, but after looking at the menu we decided to order food.
We ordered deep fried pickles, jalapeno poppers and a double burger and fries.
My 15 year old daughter had the double burger. It was funny seeing her try to bit into the large burger. She loved the burger (which she could not finish), fresh homemade patties, oozing with melted cheese. The fries which came with the burger were delicious, they tasted like freshly cut fries.
The pricing for everything was good, good service. Definitely would come back.

Always a line to get in (before the pandemic), but that just speaks to how good this place is; luckily the staff are so efficient that it moves super quickly. I always get the breakfast poutine which is heaven and hell on a plate. Heaven while you eat it and hell for finishing the montrosity of a portion in one sitting. Had to resort to takeout during the pandemic to get my fix. Give it a try!

Ok — so I haven’t been to Wellington since some time last fall (Covid-19 has been fun, right?) I read the fb post and listened to the CFRA interview about the military personnel who left a mega tip to the diner. In true boring covid fashion, I started looking at the reviews for the diner and some of them truly make me laugh.

My friends, family and I have gone there more times than we can count and we’ve virtually NEVER had an issue. The ONLY thing I can think of is a pancake that may have been slightly under done. We let the server know (Jesse BTW — who is awesome and always happy to strike up a conversation with regulars) and guess what? We got another one. It was that easy. People are quick to tell their servers that everything is “fine” and then are just as quick to write a negative review on the internet.

When we first went there it was because somewhere else was busy, and it’s now our go to place. So if you’re thinking of going there, please do so. Don’t let internet trolls make up your mind. Go and form your own opinion, and if something isn’t right — just ask! You’ll be happy you did ???

AMAZING food! This diner was so nice to eat at. Very peaceful location, the servers were so nice, the food was phenomenal, great experience all around. Portion sizes are huge!

Ordered Wellington Diner during self-isolation to support a local restaurant, and aren’t I glad I did!

I had the Kentucky Crunch which was juicy and well seasoned. The fries were also great and the portion allowed me to have two meals out of one. Not only a great diner to visit, but delivery turned out great too!
