Amazing place. Great food. Family owned and it shows

Stayed 3 nights. Wonderful location next to historic walk-bridge that enters onto a small park alongside a Trent River system lock and dam. The bridge was busy with kids jumping into the river from the bridge. Booked a dinner which was fantastic: I had the duck and my wife had the curry. Fine wine selection topped it off. Servings were so generous we couldn't finish. The leftovers the next day...still tasted great. The only issue was the room: was ok. Just lacked any charm that you'd think one would find in such a nice old building in that location. And the grounds were overgrown but it was during Covid so I understand it's been a difficult time. No real complaints here.

During COVID-19 we opted for the takeout offering. The aroma in the car on the way home made our mouths water.
The clam chowder was stunning. The coleslaw disappeared quickly. The ribs fell off the bones with moist texture and delicious maple flavour. Roasted potatoes completed the meal. Thank you for this front line service.
