Great looking structure and interesting to see, but the visitors centre was closed mid-day, during the week.
If you are going to do that, you should have some information panels outside to explain more about the locks (instead of the unrelated ones you did have posted about WWII and Riel).
Great engineering feat. Almost 100 years old. Still works.
Real neat spot to sit and watch or picnic or walk around. We came after Labour Day so the visitor center was closed. The bathrooms were open at the top of the locks which was great. Not a lot of boats coming through but saw the lock transfer twice in the 1.5 hr we were there. The operator at the top end was very engaged and came out to explain how it works and had some stuff for the kids which certainly enhanced the experience.
Visit couple times and still want to come back. Come in August the lift working with many boats in and out.
Fantastic place! Huge! If you haven’t seen the locks work, it’s definitely a must! Reportedly haunted due to some tragic deaths as well 😳
