Heartland Blood Donor Clinic

Absolute sweetest and most accommodating staff. The first thing I wanted to do to mark turning 17 was to donate blood and the supervisor, Sylvia, and the front desk were so eager to accommodate my religious needs and made me feel comfortable to help save life. The staff was very sweet, funny and comforting; especially, Zenaide, Bon, Aide, and Adeline (forgive me if I've misspelt any of your names). They even joked with me and stayed after closing hours to make sure I was alright.
I know this is a bit overdue, but I couldn't help not sharing this incredible experience with everyone and encouraging you all to save a life, right here in the heart of Mississauga, with people have some of the kindest hearts.

I booked a corporate donation at this clinic yesterday. It took a lot of planning and ground work on my end. The people I dealt with(Lilet and Anthony) from the booking group were wonderful.
The whole experience as a whole was good. The women taking care of the doners were all very nice and great to spend sometime with whilst we were there.
I did however get the flu two days before the donation date so I personally wasn’t allowed to donate, however I still went as moral support. I wanted to ask the nurse before registering to make sure I was right in my decision not to donate. I don’t remember her name but she was the nurse at the front desk when we arrived in black scrubs. She looked miserable and was, quite frankly, pretty rude to me and the rest of our group . She made me feel like I wasn’t welcome and putting people at risk from even asking the question even though I decided not to donate before even going.
Blood clinics can only be successful because you have people like me and my coworkers who took time out of their day to donate their blood. As the first person your donors speak with and see when they first walk in the door, it doesn’t put a good taste in peoples mouths when people like her are there welcoming( or lack there of) them. We had a few first time donors with us today and she was a main topic of our discussions afterwards. Not a great first impression for Those who may potentially want to donate in the future again. She was a little abrasive and not great to work with. If she is a nurse working for this clinic on a regular basis I would suggest to her to be more friendly with the donors and those of us that have some questions or concerns.

Over all the staff was great, the booking group was great, our “life bus” driver was great but the nurse brought it all down to be honest. I hope she can see this and seriously reconsider how she treats people who take their own personal time to donate to a great cause.

Everyone was amazing but I wasn’t crazy about the nurse I had. She wasn’t very friendly and she even got irritated at me because I wasn’t applying pressure to my arm after the procedure ( I let got for a about a minute) then she said I would get a bruise. I said I didn’t really care, it’s just a bruise.
Otherwise everyone was super friendly and my experience was better than I expected. Staff is knowledge and well trained, they take good care of you & help you through the whole process.
