My intention is not to smear the name of Wesbell but hopefully offer a warning in good-faith about the importance of conducting sufficient character checks of new employees; especially going in to positions of management: Recently Kerry Ryan was hired as the new Operations Manager at the Burnaby, BC branch. And after learning previous to this, that he'd been fired yet again in the space of 2 years, it's imperative to know a little bit about his work history. Because I believe it's too late for him to change.
He lies compulsively. This is the route of where most of his problems begin and end. He has little compunction for weaving truth with fiction and this could be something harmless to lying about his hours, all the way to burning fellow employees, fudging numbers in his jobs and actively slandering other companies. This makes it almost impossible for him to function effectively in his position and trust what he's saying and doing.
He embezzles money. This is very controversial but yes, he does. He has outside contractors he uses for manufacturing steel and doing the electrical installations, but all these quotes are deliberately inflated by about 20-40%. The only thing that's saved him from a criminal conviction is bonafide proof of transaction, but run the numbers of his vs other contractor prices and you'll find glaring disparities. Remember if it walks and quacks like a duck. And this probably wouldn't even be as noticeable if he didn't routinely underbid his jobs and find creative ways to blame other people for the losses.
He plays the victim. This is part of the narrative of lying, but a card he likes to play when all bridges are eventually burned. It's important to know that his archetype for an employer is a company with a strong balance sheet and a fledgling civil department that he can basically build on his own, with no scrutiny of his methods or his bookkeeping. This inevitably goes wrong when he's caught doing something wrong; his numbers won't add up or just be completely obfuscated, an important relationship will be destroyed etc and he'll find a way to appear heroic and unappreciated.
At the end of the day this guy will never have the courage to start his own company, to invest his own skin and reputation, to make that uncertain bet and will likely bounce around for another decade leaching off other peoples resources.
Good luck, Wesbell. It's better know what lies in store sooner than later.
