Great place
A group of warm and devoted Christians who are eager to share the Gospel ….
I was joining the “Breaking of Bread” meeting on Sunday morning. As soon as I walked into the building, two elders were immediately receiving me. I was led to a large yet very simple meeting room without any traditional Christian icons, not even the Cross but only scriptures. The room was arranged that a table with bread and wine on it was in the centre. When I was sitting in the room, I felt I was well under-dressed because all men were on their suits while all women wore beautiful hats. As many Brethren emphasized, I observed no pastors nor clergies assisting during the meeting. Without any prearrangement, different men stood up and led hymns from the hymn book with A Capella and then the congregation followed. Also different men stood up to lead prayers. Later an elder broke the bread on the centered table and passed the bread to their members. Each member (I mean members-only) took a small piece from the loaf and partake the bread. This symbolized the body of Christ. Then the same elder poured the wine from the jar into two glasses and circulated the two glasses. Each member took a sip from the glass. This symbolizes the blood of Christ. I could see from all the members’ face, they truly remembered the sacrifice of Jesus Christ made for them. The simplicity of the meeting reminded me how little materials we need to worship God – actually not much. This experience helped me focus on the essentials on a Christian worship service. After the meeting, the elders are very friendly and they invited me for refreshments downstairs as well as the Sunday school.
This church also provides free ESL (English as a Second Language) classes for its surrounding communities. If you have a friend new to Canada, please take advantage of it. Blessing.
