If I could give this place 10 stars that wouldn't even do it justice. We have been to a number of campgrounds this season and not one has come close to being as amazing as this one (in fact we haven't liked any others - field camping or being 5 feet from your neighbour is not camping IMO). The location is amazing...quiet, private, on a beautiful lake and run well. It's family owned by very friendly people who take care of the grounds and the people that visit. The sites are amazing...you aren't on top of your neighbour and all site are surrounded by lots of big old trees. The swimming spots are amazing both the beach area and the rock area and the sunsets are unreal. We have been 4 or 5 times this year and never had an issue with noise and everyone we met has been super friendly. Would love a seasonal but naturally there is a long waitlist. I recommend this place to anyone looking for perfect camping. It doesn't get better than this!
If you're looking for an enjoyable camping experience Black Donald Campground is the place to stay.
When we checked in you could feel the pleasant hospitality and the relaxing atmosphere was enjoyed our whole visit. The campround offers everything one would be looking for. The clean sites and facilities, access to the clear lake for swimming, fishing and boating, and nature trails...what more could one ask for?
And we very much enjoyed meeting the happy campers at the park.
Did not want to leave!
Anne, Janice and of course John and his copilot dog made our stay an experience we shared with our friends and family when we got back home.
See you next year...

Just camped there for the first time with recommendation from my niece and we had a beautiful site 9S. The owners Anne, John and Janice are wonderful people and very helpful and friendly, especially John's dog Gunner. The views were wonderful I would recommend this campsite but book ahead as they are busy. Can't wait to return next year.

We loved this campground. The sites were super nice, ours was quite private and larger for a family or small group. (Site 38) Seems to be family owned and I found they were very flexible and welcoming. Also a great swimming spot where you can jump off some smooth rocks or a floating doc. We will definitely be back!
I was on lot 44 a smaller lot but was awesome for the view of the water. The beach was one of the highlights. There was one for kids and one with a big deep drop so it was for strong swimmers. I enjoyed a drink while floating on my noodle.very clean and quiet place. The staff were amazing. We brought our canoe and forgot the paddle the lady at the desk lent us some. I even broke a paddle. She didn't want money but gave some anyways since it was on my time. Lots of character from the landscape to the telephone on the office. The old rustic charm of camping in the beautiful gods country of calabogie. If I'd say one negative it would be bring an extra 2$ to the shower if you like a longer shower.
