I am a big swimmer so this was such a tray for me. There is nothing like swimming in Georgian bay. So beautiful, crystal clear water. The beaches are a mix of sand and rocks, many big rocks (erratic boulders for the geology buff). My site was nice, as expected for car camping. It seems to be a will run clean and orderly park.
We took the kids camping there 20+ yrs ago and loved it.
I am now in wheelchair and we went because it seemed progressive with accessibility.
Deceiving in reality. There isn't an accessible washroom at the entrance. The park lady made us register first. She didn't know where the accessible washrooms were and didn't give us a map of the park.
The wheelchairs designed for use on the beach can be borrowed with a $250 deposit, which I felt was excessive as a lot ofdisabled people live in poverty.
When we returned the beach chair my son made a strong recommendation to the office: before signing out the chair, the tire pressure must be checked beforehand. We realized once at the beach that he was trying to push me through sand on improperly inflated tires.
There needs to be change rooms available for day use of the beach. Maybe there is, not having a map and limited mobility meant looking around was difficult.
The lady at the check in made our so much less pleasant than it should have been.
I love the park, and will go back, better prepared to deal with the lack of understanding of staff as to what is wheelchair accessible.
Just because they have the accessible logo on their website doesn't mean their staff has received adequate training sadly.
Great camping site with families. Spots separate from each other enough which makes quiet and private surroundings in summer. parking lain is long and wide enough for 2-3 cars. RV, trailer and normal cars could easily park in. Fixed fire pit on every site. Too many mosquitos and no any kind of anti-mosquito spray works. Public hot water shower available 7-24h. Remember to keep your food and kitchen waste in car at night, racoons could open your plastic ice box which is locked well.
Gorgeous nature, well kept sites, excellent privacy and a beautiful beach. Everything you could ask for in a park. Love our visits.
It's very popular always pretty packed with people. Go further north away from Toronto, there are more beautiful parks.
