De Havilland Aircraft of Canada

An 8 hour drive from NYC and just over an hour by plane the De Havilland Canada Office is right ion the middle of Toronto. That said this incredible company is one of the coolest aerospace businesses there is. The De Havilland Aircraft Company first started life in North London (UK) and was started by Geoffrey de Havilland (hence the name). Geoffrey or rather Captain Sir Geoffrey de Havilland, OM, CBE, AFC, RDI, FRAeS was an aircraft designer with a few titles. He was born in middle class Victorian England; they weren’t poor but they weren’t rich enough to start building aeroplanes. In fact, Geoff built his first aircraft with money borrowed from his mothers’ father. Today they are still building some of the best aircraft in the world, such as the Dash 8-400 which is accredited as being the world’s most advanced turboprop. It’s a great place to work and employs some of the smartest mind and dedicated people on the planet – at least in my experience.
