Great experience for anyone into theatre. Because it is an open-air venue, remember to bring a cushion or blanket because you'll be sitting on the ground.
I love Shakespeare in High Park, the performances are always amazing. They put a unique era spin on everything they do and it is always funny, entertaining and well thought out. Always come early! Always packed! Bring bug spray and a picnic.
Cute plays. Very culturally on point. Great sense of community achieved to share a warm and inclusive event.
Seating is limited and those who end up on the sides need to ensure sufficient cushioning (sitting on stones for 1.5 hours is not that easy on the bumm).
First time seeing measure for measure performed. Was during preview so kept this in mind. Actors did a pretty great job and I liked the modernization that the play brought. Showed up at 6:30 p.m. with lots of room for space. Bathrooms via porta potties on site, booth to buy food and drink. You can also bring your own food and drink if you would prefer. I suggest bringing some sort of cushion to sit on, blanket to sit on, blanket for when it gets cooler later on, mosquito repellent if you're concerned.
Tonight we saw Much Ado About Nothing presented by Canadian Stage. It was a lively and funny adaptation with excellent acting and production values.
They are also presenting Measure for Measure on alternate nights. We went last night but the production was rained off. We hope to see it next Tuesday.
Bring a blanket or cushion and picnic and enjoy the show. It's free but you are asked to make a donation. They have coffee and snack carts if you can't bring your own and it's just a short walk from High Park subway station.
