We came for an early dinner and ordered stir fried string beans with minced pork, satay shrimp and vermicelli in hot pot. We started with a (huge) complimentary bowl of soup. The other dishes didn't take long to reach the table.
Beware of touching the pot with the shrimp and vermicelli, it's very hot! I would advise mixing the vermicelli a bit or else some won't taste like anything and you'll get all the sauce for other bites. The sauce was tasty and not too goopy as it sometimes turns out with too much corn starch. We found the shrimp not that fresh. The firmness in the meat just wasn't there and it was a bit soft. The string beans along with the pork were perfect with having with rice. Dinner ended with complimentary bowls of dessert too. We were so stuffed.
I went there for a family dinner to celebrate the dragon boat festival. It was opened not too long ago. It is a Cantonese cuisine offering regular basic dishes. Nothing fancy. Staffs are friendly and very attentive. Unlike other restaurants, they even change your bone dishes when filled. The portion of food are larger than other restaurants. Taste are ok with that price level ( not too expensive ). It is a good place for family gathering without costing you arm and leg.
I gave a 3 stars rating because of two things. Firstly, they have a website but they don't updates it. The prices between the menu in their website and the actual menu are different. Secondly, don't try to make reservations by using their website online because they won't check them at all. When you do, you end up with no reservations. I don't know why they bother to have a website at all.
I'll return for more.
Came here after seeing the good reviews, and Chef 88 didn’t disappoint! The interior is smaller, but feels roomy compared to its predecessor because of the high ceilings. Food was decently portioned for the price and in general tasted pretty good! I’d highly recommend their deep fried soft shell. Overall a great spot for traditional Cantonese fare.
My first visit to the restaurant yesterday. Place is clean. Price is reasonable, but there are also pricy menu options available to choose too. Food portion and taste meet my expectation based on the price charged. Wait time for all the dishes to be served needs improvement. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant.
Came here with my parents who are regulars at a place where the owner was previously. Quality of the food was good. The beef stir fry had the classic taste that meant it was cooked in a hot enough wok (wok hay), and the beef slices were flavourful and tender. We also had a vermicelli stir fry (Cantonese style) which came with fresh shrimps. The soup of the day was carrot and dried choy, which was thick and flavourful. Overall, good value! Would come again and try other dishes.
