Great place to take kids for a walk or a hike. The trails are a bit sketchy and I got lost one time but otherwise it is a good place to visit!
I was surprised that there was an actual campground inside the city. You can bring in a trailer or use a tent and camp by the Rouge River. I don't know how much it costs, but it is open in the summer.
If you want to go camping without driving for hours, this place is close and you can't even tell that you are in the city. There are trees and a river and you cannot see any signs that you are not in a campground far from the city. This is part of the Rouge National Park now. If you wander through the forest, you can get to the Toronto Zoo, but I would not do that. I am not sure if it is allowed.
There are also plenty of Pokemon to be found here. That is how I found this place the first time.
Great hikes with good views overlooking the ravine. Of course the proximity to the city means lots of people on the trail, but most are courteous if not friendly (it's Toronto, so not TOO friendly)
Well-staffed and easy entry at the front, but the park itself lacks any modicum of privacy or "site"...in an RV or trailer I could imagine a much better time but for tent camping it feels strangely like being back in a Scout troop, sharing an open field. The trails are quite nice however and the facilities are more than adequate. Nice enough to get out of the city for a weekend, and the geography of the park eliminates any road noise from the nearby highway. If you're looking for destination camping I'd seek elsewhere, but for convenience's sake this park is great.

The Glen Rouge Campground on the banks of banks of the Rouge River in the soon-to-be Rouge National Urban Park is the city's only camping spot. It's a short drive (approximately 35 km from downtown) on the eastern edge of Scarborough along the Rouge Valley. It's an escape from the city in the city.
