Mount Forest Tavern

Hi folks . Listen I’ve been to the mount royal tavern both before and after with the ownership, and the new owners are a welcome change from the past (new owners started February 2020. Older reviews before this are bogus.

The new owners not only have sank a bundle of $$$ into the decor, sound system and appliances( new kitchen and bar so nice and clean) but they have also gotten rid of the local trouble makers. It’s now a pleasant and nice place for all.

By day a friendly family experience both inside and on the large patio .

At night it more a bar with pool tables music karaoke, etc depending on the night.

The best part is the food.
Dan the chef has been hired out of Toronto and it really shows on the menus selection.

This is not a fast food restaurant but they do carry the usuals , burgers fries, wings and salads.

But the dinners , pastas, and the rest are a huge improvement and delicious .

I’ve eaten all over mount forest and as far as any fine dining goes, this is the only place for me.

Excellent house salad and meatball sandwich. Great fries with fish& chips. Service was slow and the lobby needs some attention. Could be a very welcoming place given a bit of effort

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. I drive through MT.Forest, a few times a, week over the past five years, never seen this place, could use a sign that is visible to traffic. Wife noticed the Patio Open, signs, so we turned around and went in for a bite. This place looks like it could be a decent Saturday night out, before Covid. Big inside, nice huge patio outside. There's a stage inside, for live music. Our server was Linda, very friendly, the three of us shared some laughs, we asked Linda, what they were good at, she gave us some suggestions, we ordered the beef dip, with fries. Nice surprise, REAL POTATO fries. Service was good, food was good. Too bad about Covid , I think this place could be rockin' in better times. We will be back.

We stopped by on their wing night. Great wings! We had the hot blonde, lemon pepper and medium. All great choices. We’ll be back again, hopefully to enjoy their patio again.

Had dinner on the patio with a group of friends. Great night, great food, great service. Inside Reno’s look amazing. Can’t wait for this pandemic to end so we can enjoy inside too.
