Well maintained lighthouse with museum. Friendly service in the store. No more ice cream here though. Very well maintained bathrooms. We also saw seals off the shore below. Be sure to visit if not just to say you were at the eastern most point on the island. Also a 10 min drive to North Shore (Tuna docks) and Basin head.
One of the biggest and most modern lighthouses on the island, looks like it has been renovated as it has vinyl siding/shingles instead of the original wood slating that the original lighthouse would have been covered with, but over all an amazing site to see! The gift shop is massive with all sorts of PEI and east point paraphernalia!
This is one of the prettier lighthouses on P.E.I. The setting makes this a picture-perfect photo op.
There are chairs available on a bluff overlooking the ocean and restrooms on site. There is no charge to walk the grounds.
Parking might be limited on busy days. I think there are about 10 to 12 spaces available.
Don't forget to visit the gift shop. Excellent selection of items made by local artists.
Such a beautiful place. As the easternmost point in PEI, you should expect to be surrounded by water. The gift shop people is really attentive, there's a good selection of mementos, but the real star of the place is the lighthouse.
Paying the fee to climb it is worth every cent. There's years and years of history, with pictures, images, real pieces of equipment, and the view. Ah, the view... Just go see for yourself.
We loved this site! Interesting historically and geographically, a beautiful view and a neat shop. The shop had more than the typical tourist wares, with some neat unique items. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Highly recommend this location.
