We had the most wonderful meal at The North Shore Canteen during our vacation to PEI! We did the chef’s tasting menu for 7 people and it was beyond incredible. After eating at most of the top rated and talked about restaurants on the island, we all agreed this was our favourite meal by far. Incredibly fresh ingredients and it was such a special experience to hear from the restaurant owners about all of the local ingredients that they incorporate from around the island. We found the dishes to be creative and unique, while still making use of the beautiful seafood + fresh produce of PEI. We highly recommend the tasting menu - incredible value for the amount of quality dishes. Huge thank you to the wonderful team at The North Shore Canteen for making our vacation so memorable and for the special meal (special shout-out to our awesome server, Megan, who answered all of our questions about the oyster farming industry on the island! She was wonderful.)
The food experience was exceptional. Local products with incredible taste. Chef Alex took the time to serve us a couple of our plates and to talk to us. Going to return again to try out the Family Style selection on the menu.
What can I say ? Do yourself a favor and get the family style dinner. The food just keeps coming and coming and personally delivered by chef Alex. You get to try everything on the menu plus some surprises. We had a halibut cheek and halibut collar which were not on the menu and incredible. Good wine / beer selection and the drink prices are very reasonable. Our group tried several things we likely would have never ordered for ourselves and we didn't regret it. Nice to have something of this level in this area of the islands.
Amazing place with an upscale casual vibe and some of the best food around. Chef Alex has differentiated his menu from the typical island fare: come here, place your faith in his hands, and be prepared for a mind blowing culinary experience. We had the pleasure of chatting with the chef after dinner and discovered how our paths crossed in Ottawa and St John’s. Tip: the family-style chefs menu is an amazing value and should be your go-to. If you are anywhere in this area do not miss a chance to stop by. Just a really fun, welcoming, and delicious spot.
Upscale food, with an inviting atmosphere. Cannot recommend enough! I came while visiting with family, and was blown away by high quality and presentation of local ingredients. Loved fresh twists on classic PEI favourites. Award winning chefs/owners were absolutely lovely and incredibly personable when they came out to speak to each table, and I will be booking again ASAP!
