Really enjoyed it here, the wood fire pizza is so delicious. We had the veggie one! I purchased the herb and garlic cheese and it pairs great with wine. Staff was lovely and went above and beyond.
This place is actually called Glasgow Glen Farm nowadays, no longer Cheeselady"s Gouda Cheese. They still make many varieties of gouda. You can see through special windows the equipment used to make the gouda as well as the aging cooler with shelves holding thousands of goudas. The front counter sells the goudas as well as baked goodies like cookies, cinnamon snails, and artisanal bread. But, people flock here for the pizzas! They top them with their own goudas instead of the typical mozzarella. The pizzas are thin-crust and baked in a wood-fired oven. There is limited indoor seating, but much more outside on picnic tables. I give their pizzas 8 out of 10. The prices are reasonable, but the crust could be better (more hydration, more gluten development, a longer slow ferment, and a bit more salt). Gouda as a pizza cheese is interesting, but I think that they could look for better toppings that complement gouda rather than using the standard toppings that complement mozzarella. I think that they could study what goes well with gouda on a cheese and charcuterie plate, and create some amazing combinations from that (e.g., figs, grapes, prosciutto, capicollo, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, goat cheese, etc.). Most recently, I tried THE WARM & FUNGHI pizza -- the cream sauce complemented the gouda, but I found the seasoned ground beef topping to be under-seasoned, and the crust weaknesses noted earlier did not help. I will definitely go back and keep hoping that they improve.
You'll have to get there early if you are hoping to get their cinnamon rolls. They make an excellent wood fired pizza.
Between the amazing baked goods and their pizzas it a winner
Incredible pizza that is made right in front of you using Gouda cheese and a variety of toppings. Also with the most wonderful staff. Seriously, these employees beam with positivity and aim to be helpful. Bring the whole family! Lots of seating outside, limited seating inside. Washrooms available.
Plenty of cheese to choose from for purchase.
But only one type of cheese was available for sample. Would have liked to try more. I bought one I did not sample beforehand and found out when I got home it was not exactly to my taste. Still pretty good though.
Amazing cheese and amazing pizza! What an unexpected gem. We stopped by for supper and were so impressed. 12$ for a pizza. 2 adults and a toddler easily satisfied :)
