(December 8, 2021, 1:46 am)Founded in the early 17th century by the French explorer Champlain, Old Quebec is surrounded by a wall with multiple bastions, gates, and fortifications, and is the only city in North America to have preserved it intact. The Upper Town, built on top of the cliff, is still the religious and administrative center and has many churches, convents and other monuments such as the Dauphine stronghold, the citadel and the Frontenac castle.
