“I came to Nataliya to improve my piano technique, having had a few years of unstructured lessons with other teachers, with a focus on jazz concepts. I worked very hard independently, and although I could adequately play a jazz tune on the piano, my lack of proper pianistic technique and musical knowledge was hampering my progress as a pianist. I decided classical lessons were needed. I started lessons with Nataliya in January 2021, and was immediately impressed with her. Nataliya is approachable, joyful, and passionate about music; she is adept at identifying and addressing problem areas and she is encouraging and firm in terms of teaching musicality, accuracy, and good technique. Nataliya understands how I learn; she presents information and skills in a logical and beneficial sequence and helps me grasp concepts necessary to achieve my potential as a pianist. Nataliya knows what to teach and when to teach it. She expertly selects material that will help me advance while building a firm musical foundation; she clearly demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of the repertoire and piano pedagogical materials. At the same time, Nataliya maintains a flexible approach to teaching. She sets clear attainable goals (short-term weekly goals and longer-term goals). Nataliya motivates me to learn, practice, and play correctly. Nataliya clearly has a desire to pass the gift of music along to others. The combination of her strong musical skills, her sensitivity and knowledge makes Nataliya an extraordinary teacher. It is truly a joy to learn and discover music with Nataliya’s guidance!”
