(January 8, 2019, 3:42 am)Discovered this place accidentally while touring GTineau Park and the area. They have a great selection. Of smoked fish ( we are pescatarian). Enjoyed sturgeon for the first time ever + scallops, trout, salmon. All very flavourful. We will be back.

They don't have anything you can't find in Ottawa, but the drive alone being as lovely as it is makes it worth taking the extra hour instead of going to Whalesbone. You'll recognize many gourmet products from your favorite Ottawa foodie places. Frozen things you can take home to heat up. Try the togarashi smoked salmon if it's there.

They smoke all kinds of fish, seafood, and cheese, and are adding salt, maple syrup and other delicacies to their offerings. Preserves, crackers, sauces, chocolates and frozen prepared food round out the spectrum of temptations at La Boucanerie.
We are heading back to the cottage with a collection of goodies after our visit, the rich scent of smoke and the memory of loudly playing Delta blues filling the car.
