Pros: No katas, just blows and combat simulations. This makes it a more physical workout than karate. We can do parent-child lessons and with belts of different levels. There is also a lot of coaching for practice with several masters.

Negatives: Forget self-defense, you won't learn to fight, but to win taekwondo competitions. You have to like kicks because you will only do that, practice the same 10 kicks until you reach black belt. There is only one punch, no transition to the ground, submission etc. At this level the other martial arts are much more complete.
Children who do not wish to compete (and the adults who accompany them) will be considerably slowed down in obtaining their belt, even if they perform well in the grade exam. Conversely, single adults will go up one belt per session even if they can't do the warm-ups at the start. We end up with very efficient blocked yellow belts and black belts who are not able to do a back kick. Master Martin pushes for competition with insistence, but he must understand that competition is not within the reach of all budgets.

In the end, the practice of sport is still fun
