There are times when it’s necessary to share an experience with the general public and this is one of those moments. Let me preface by saying that I have eaten thousands of burgers in nearly every state and across many countries. I would like to consider myself a bit of an aficionado. Normally I judge a burger in the quality of the meat, cheese, and bun and find that over dressed burgers diminish the meal. I ordered the lamb burger from cask and schooner in Friday harbor. It is the most amazing burger I have ever eaten. Outrageously good lamb meat well seasoned and prepared. What must be French feta as it’s creamy and not overly sharp. Perhaps one of the best brioche buns I have ever tried. And some majestic cocktail of mint aioli and pickled peppers. Normally I would frown upon this much fanfare on a burger but this is a piece of art. If you claim to love burgers run to this place. I may have been rendered unable to ever eat a beef burger again which I understand may sound like heresy.
And for full disclosure this was the second time I tried the burger in the off chance they got lucky once. The second one was every bit as great as the first.
I only wish they allowed more than 5 stars.
Food was quite good, portions were good and large. Fairly expensive - 4 of us split 2 soups and each had the cod or a sandwich for about $100 total.
It was slow when we got there, maybe 4 other tables going and 2 waiters. The service was pretty bad, we ordered and didn't see the waiter again until we finished. One of the sandwiches was ordered without onions due to allergy, the sandwich was loaded with onion and no staff to help. We traded and ate it anyway, but a bummer for the price.
Stopped here for lunch on our whale watching tour. Two of us ordered the soup of the day, which was a seafood bisque that promised to be full of various bites of seafood. While it was indeed very tasty and creamy, there were no bites of seafood to be found, nothing but broth, which was a disappointment. However, that was the only disappointing part of the meal. Our table also ordered a Cubano, a rustic BLT and a pulled pork sandwich. All of those were absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. And the fries....wow....best I have had in some time! Service was quite good, staff was friendly, and the views from our outside table were amazing. Highly recommend!
Excellent food, service and draft selection. The french fries are the best I have had a long time. Nice place to people watch the folks coming off the ferry.
Excellent food and staff. The best potato leek soup we have ever had! We loved it so much we asked if the chef would share the recipe. He did! The goat burger was also amazing. The chef has a great hand with the perfect balance of flavors. If we ever get back to San Juan islands I can't wait to try more of there dishes. Also the hostess Zoe was so sweet and helpful to us. Thank you for making our trip wonderful!
