The Friday Harbor Ice Cream shop. Is great place to get ice cream in town. Yes if get crazy around ferry time. But most places in town get this way too. As for only taking CASH the banks charge to much for little sales. So then they have to charge you more for the same. This ice cream shop has over 100 favorite of good ice cream to pick from.
I think the people are very nice too. Maybe someone should treat people like people and not a servant. I have been going here for years and this place get 5 STARS. Just slow down and enjoy the island speed and life.

The ice cream is delicious. They only take cash but that's not too big a deal. They provide service quickly even moving through a long line. I stop there almost every time I have a ferry wait.

I've gone twice in the past 2 days (it's a bike tour and I'm a hard core ice cream nut). I think the customer service comments are the perfect storm of stressed ferry crowds and overwhelmed employees. I got the sense it is a two way street of both parties not being polite. Solution? Just go in the off hours. Be a good human and read the signs.
The ice cream is elaborate and the selection is clever. If they accepted credit cards that wonderful price would go up. While I have a flare for the high class cones and amazing scoops of Portland it was certainly a wonderful vacation treat. Definitely recommended.
