Peaceful and easy trail with an exceptional beach to relax and enjoy before heading back. No dogs are allowed, but of course, there are always those that break the rules so watch out for dog landmines.
Beautiful area. Easy hike
An easy flat 3/4 mile, each way, stroll through the forest to get to the viewpoint at the end. To get to the beach, it's a steep downhill part that ends in stairs and makeshift driftwood stair or two. The beach is rocks and driftwood. A queit place to relax though. There is a porta potty in the parking lot.
A nice short walk through the woods to the water. It would probably be better to make sure you go at low tide otherwise there isn't much beach to walk on. The parking lot is large, plenty of room. There is noise from the refinery down on the beach though, which is a little distracting.
The trail is a great .75 mile ( 1.5 mile round trip) walk through big Spruce, Cedar, Alder, Cottonwood forest that ends at a set of stairs down to a rocky beach. You have several spots, with granite benches and placards of memoria, to sit and look out over the water at the San Juan Islands. It is a great place to take a kid and let them explore their way along. I keep this in the loop of places to take my son.
