King Noodle House Pho Hoang

The setting will fool you. The building does look a little run down but King Noodle House easily has the best tasting broth in Edmonton. Only downfall is they are cash only.

So wanted to love this place because of the stellar reviews, but found the food average and overall experience mediocre. Wanted to place an order for pickup. Called the number on the website and it went to the fax machine. Decided to persist and after trying twice more, I finally got through. Advised what I wanted to order and without confirming my order, the lady hung up on me. I couldn't be sure whether she actually got my order. Also had to stop at a bank machine to get cash as they are cash only during COVID. I have ordered takeout many times from local YEG restaurants and this is the first one that is cash only in the midst of COVID. They also charge you $1 extra per order for takeout. Pho was average.

The owner came off as a nice introvert man. The Pho is alright to me. It lacked the star anise and five spice I usually smell in a good aromatic bowl of Pho. It was on a greasy side. Coming from Toronto Edmonton's "large" is easily a medium size. The quirky thing through me off was a second locked wooden door with a platic flap/latched that he sticks his head out like the wizard of OZ and takes your body temperature. Still on the hunt for a legit Edmonton Pho establishment.

Excellent pho with tasty options. Vietnamese coffee is highly recommended

Love their special extra large pho. Great soup. Have not try their other dishes. Last time I went the table was very dirty. Hot sauce stickiness all over the table when we were seated. Tea was not hot but was just warm.
