There is so much to explore here. The scenery is beautiful and peaceful and the trails are well taken care of. We will be back to experience more trails. The only criticism I have is that the smaller parking lots do not have good signage and are easy to miss.
This was a lot of fun. First time doing it on skis and did not disappoint!! Lots of short steep hills got the heart rate up, not too many people and the scenery was lovely for a sunny cold (-18) winter day. Will be heading out there again!! Trails are well groomed for ski users and wide enough for walking/snowshoeing as well. A large community of runners who access the mapped 6.8km double track as well as the many kilometers of single track off of the beaten trail. Great place to start cross country skiing if you are a beginner or expert just pick a trail to your skill and go from there. Also a great place for hikes and biking as well.
Really, Really liked it. Came here for Campers Village family fun day. First time Ive been here. Trails were beautiful, better once the leaves come back. The sites were great, some had fire pits are awesome. Can't wait to come back.
Great nature trail area with extensive network of wide trails, and a variety of terrain. Whether you are looking for a flat hike, or more of a challenge, it's here. Multiple parking lots provide lots of parking, and spread everyone out over the area. Traction devices recommended when there is snow/ice as there is some steeper grade hills. Scenic throughout with lots of birds, I've also seen deer out here, as well. The main parking areas are close to picnic tables, and fire pits, with a great lake view. Nice place to spend the day, and close to the city.
We always enjoy going to Chickakoo, in the summer or winter. Walking the trails on foot with the dog, or on horseback is such a good time, the trails are generally in good shape. If you do choose to take the "advanced" trail just be prepared for some fairly steep hills. Proper hiking shoes are recommended because the trails are dirt and have some rocks/small tree stumps throughout.
The snow here does not melt super quickly so if going in the spring be prepared that there might still be snow on the trails
