Very good service and food was fantastic!
Unbelievably friendly service. Great food. Will be back.
Great Service and Great food! Had the Fish & Chips tonight and that was to die for! Huge piece of fish!
This was the very first time coming to Hussar during road travels. The care was a small cozy place. The owner is a very friendly and nice lady. The hamburgers we ordered was very fresh and homemade. If you are looking for a home cooked meal. Don's cafe is the place to go. They even make Chinese food as well. The other customer highly suggested it
After dropping picking up my child from a birthday party my family and I decided to stop in Hussar for some from at Don's Cafe & Lounge. This review obviously pertains to the cafe side of the establishment.
Building and decor is what you would expect from a small town restaurant in rural Alberta, not fancy but focusing on function and ease of cleaning. The dining area was quite clean to my eye. Service was from a charming older lady who was likely the cook as well. The menu consisted of your standard Chinese/Western fare.
We ordered a dinner for two, won ton soup, and and grilled cheese for the kid. All were served within 15 minutes and smelled delicious. The portions were less than what I've saw at similar restaurants in the area but was still more than enough for my wife and I. Everything tasted fresh and was well seasoned with the exception of the won ton soup. Whereas the won tons were well prepared the broth was bland. However I don't think I've ever ordered won ton soup for the broth so the part I actually wanted was good. My daughter's french fries and gravy were cooked to perfection golden delicious crispness and I had to resist stealing them from her.
Overall I give this place two thumbs up and think it is well worth stopping in for a bite to eat if you are interested in a fine example of the rural Alberta Chinese/Western diner.
