Shadow Lake Lodge

We were a group of four couples that made our way to Shadow Lake Lodge for a two night stay. Alex and staff were very attentive and friendly with wonderful breakfast, packed lunches and dinners. The hikes in area outstanding and it was great to leverage SLL as our base. Cabins terrific and great to be disconnected in paradise for a few days! SLL🙏 On walk to or from Lodge make sure to wish one by the name of Gary on trail our best :)

Staff: Alex, Ryan, Nikolas, Chrystal and the rest of the staff were very kind, polite and extremely helpful with trail info.
Assistance: Excellent help online for any questions pre arrival. Typical response within 24 hours. I didn't need to go through any cancelation experiences so I can't speak to that experience.

Accommodation:
Excellent little cabin if you like rustic and cozy. Close to main lodge with Excellent views out front. No real crossover noise from other cabins

Food: amazing gourmet food served and prepared... Ryan was Excellent and we could see his passion in his food prep. . (Bring snacks! It's easy to get a caloric deficit during a hike, but water is more essential in the summer months )

Views/hikes: a bounty of trails await, some easy and light, some more extreme and challenging... bring a GPS if you get adventurous and download *allmaps ap* it helped us get in through twin lakes arnica trail (much more advanced but manageable if you are in decent shape )

Gift shop: not really well stocked. I think if they had some water bottles for sale that would be a big seller for people on their hikes out. Easy to run outnof water in Aug

Overall: a hikers dream,

I am giving Shadow Lake Lodge 3 out of 5 stars due to the insufficient amount of food provided to Lodge guests. We stayed at the Lodge 2 nights and made the mistake of not packing much in terms of food with us. My wife and I ran pretty substantial caloric deficits the first two days as a result of this mistake. For 800-1000$ a night, I assumed we would be greeted with some food upon arrival at the lodge especially after the 14km (11km on bike with 400m elevation gain) trek in, even if we arrived around noon and tea time is at 3pm. The next day we hiked 20km missed tea time and between breakfast and the packed lunch, we were quite depleted by supper (we missed the 3pm tea time). I am no stranger to suffering through long days in the mountains with little food or water, but again, for a stay that costs 800-1000$ a night, Shadow Lake Lodge needs to do better at least communicating to guests how much food they will be served during their stay.

This is a 14km walk in with about 450m elevation gain. We did it 5 hrs with 3 kids under 10 (downhill return to the car was about 4 hrs). The area is beautiful, and the lodge itself and cabins are very nice. Great hikes nearby, I’d suggest coming for at least 3 nights. The staff were very good and made the whole trip perfect. Great job!
