“We had a girls night out and decided to return to Forno for a lovely dinner. This is a spot we have been to a number of times - and generally speaking, both the food quality and service have been fantastic. Tonight the food quality was as expected - delicious, filling and flavourful! The atmosphere was warm and intimate, chefs were flipping pizza dough and you could smell the wood burning in the oven. It’s such a cool experience! Service tonight was not as great as we have come to expect. I’m guessing they may have been short staffed due to weather being cold and snowy, however even when our sever did come around, he seemed absentminded and a little too “fake” nice that the experience wasn’t genuine. Poor guy also had some body odour that overpowered the table when he stopped by for check-ins. I recognize that sometimes people can’t control this, but I’m sharing the honest and full experience. 🤷🏻‍♀️ All this aside, I highly recommend this restaurant. It’s unassuming given being so close to the highway turnoff and nestled in the hotel row. Go to relax and unwind and enjoy delicious food!”

“Updates have transitioned this old store into a supern neighborhood shopping experience. The selection is limited, in some things, but there is a ln array if fresh produce, dairy and meats. The checkouts include a "slow" lane operated by a friendly and knowledgeable clerk who enjoys engaging with shoppers.”

“Often approach the till and the girls there will be chatting to one another not focusing on customers. After the coop number question they go back to chatting. I have heard them making fun of other staff and or customers in the past. And I find it extremely rude, unprofessional. One guy approached the express checkout for example and she said "this is express " and looked at him like an idiot. Then when he left to the farther checkout she decided to make fun of his apparent stupidity with the girl who was at the end of her checkout helping load grocery bags. 🙄”

“Sunday morning when wife and I were driving around looking for a place to get takeout. Vietnamese restaurant Thap Ba on 50th Avenue was closed, so decided to move on. Then out of the corner of my eye I saw a sign that says Spices (part of it). And I, an avid spice lover (I add them on all my recipes and dishes), told my wife (an avid lover of spicy dishes too) to check it out, hoping it would be open on a Sunday. It is behind this big building so it’s difficult to notice if you’re driving on 50th. We got there, there’s only one car parked in front, so we thought, the place might be open. And it was! We strapped our B2B face masks and went inside the store. The place was amazing! It had a huge collection of East Indian spices, from sambar mixes and garam masalas, to frozen cassava and gulab jamuns and jaggeries! They even have vegetable samosas, freshly cooked, for sale at the counter. They offer East Indian sweets as well. The manager was friendly too, and the place looked well-kept and clean. We bought a pack of frozen vegetable sambar mix (we are trying to eat more vegetables lately) and a box of ready to cook Malabari fish curry (the very spicy kind!). We liked the place, it reminded me of the small Indian spice & grocery shops in suburban Dubai & Ajman in the United Arab Emirates which I used to frequent to get my stock of spices when I used to be a resident of United Arab Emirates in the Middle East. We like the safety protocols placed in the shop as well. There was a sign reminding people to weak face masks when inside the shop. The only downside to this place is that it is almost hidden from public as it is behind a huge building complex, the 2085 South Centre. But, for sure, word will spread that in Red Deer, there’s this hidden gem tucked in 50th Avenue, behind Subway and ABC Country Restaurant. Really huge collection of spices and other interesting stuff. We will be regulars there for sure!”
