The Broken Islands Lodge (Sechart Lodge) was the perfect location to rent kayaks for our 6 night kayak/camp in the Broken Group Islands. Although we didn't stay at the lodge, now that I know what it looks like and what to expect I will definitely come back with my kids! The staff were very helpful and had everything ready to go when we arrived. I was glad to meet Shannon and her kids, very nice down to earth people! I wish them all the best with their lodge. I would have given them a 5 star rating except the kayaks are on the older side, which is totally understandable due to covid etc. and we were very glad to find rentals in the first place as many companies no longer have rentals. Oh yes, it was a blessing to have a hot shower for $1 when we returned the kayaks!
after visiting the lodge and meeting Shannon (didn't meet Bill) and her kids I will definitely come back to stay with my kids.
After a mishap with my boat they had a kayak ready for me to rent within the hour. They saved my 4-day weekend. This is a great group of individuals that make you feel very welcome.
Absolutely incredible! Stunning views, warm hospitality, great food, comfortable accommodation. Super fun listening (and even singing along!) to some acoustic guitar tunes around the campfire. Amazing kayaking. Spotted whales, sea lions, black bears, golden eagles…completely unbelievable location for spotting great wildlife. Loved soaking in the hot tub while looking out over the ocean at the end of the day. We were a bit nervous as we’d heard great things about the Lodge but also heard that there were new owners…everything about our experience indicates that it’s the same great place our friends came to know and love, with new energy. We will be back!
We did not stay here but rented kayaks from the lodge. It is a perfect way to start into the Broken Group Islands. The ferry will take you straight from Port Alberni to the lodge and you can have a nice look of the nature on the way. Guys are very friendly and the material is in good shape.
