I went to this place as a kid and wow, what an experience. Fran who used to run it (this was 20 years ago so not sure of her status now) was the absolute sweetest lady and a real one. No electricity in that place when I went there. It was a real escape. If you've read about it and are thinking of making it a destination, absolutely don't miss it.

I've stayed at the chalet four times during the last 15 or so years, and have enjoyed it every time. There is no electricity or running water in the rooms but they are actually quite comfortable. The chalet is a wilderness hike-in lodge so basic necessities are met with few extras; this should be expected of a lodge miles from any paved roads. It is not advertised as anything else other than a step up from backpacking. The food is quite good and there are always interesting people to talk to at meals. The outhouse is quite luxurious with a beautiful view. It is a fun place to stay, and there are fantastic hikes in the area. I've heard that the park service has not renewed the lease to the present operator. I hope the chalet is not turned into another "cash-cow" for the park service but keeps its original character.

Have never stayed here, but have visited it on numerous occasions when hiking up to Twin Falls. Had the good fortune of having dinner here once and the food was incredible. Just love that this overnight “luxury” adventure accommodation exists at all. With a light pack, one can hike here in well under 3 hours from the trailhead at Takakkaw Falls campground. Gives you easy access to the trails heading up the Whaleback and Yoho Glacier, as well as the route up to Des Pollus Glacier.

Amazing place for a backpacking trip (or a hike). Laughing falls is a quick hike away, with Twin falls being further along. Amazing views and very quiet trail in August
