Today they had a Summer Market , many booths with beautiful handmade items.
To my surprise if found Denman Island tea booth, tried a glass of iced Raspberry Rhapsody.
Purchased a bag of tea to enjoy at home..
Many other beautiful items too.
Along with a few round teaspoons from the gift shop..
Filberg is the perfect way to spend a hot muggy Sunday afternoon, with cool ocean breeze, browsing and enjoying all the views, nature or gifts..
Not as good as in past years. Two years ago I'd have given the Festival 4 or 5 stars, this year it was just not as good. There felt like less variety in vendors, (lots of quite similar stuff). Also felt like fewer food truck options. Not sure if they were struggling for volunteers this year too? The kids area was sparsely staffed - almost an hour wait for facepainting and when you got to the front there was one guy painting as well and as fast as he could and a sign saying you could "self-serve" if you wanted to.
If you live on the island, or are lucky enough to visit during this festival date, it is a NOT to be missed! Unbelievable value for the ticket price. Wander the 140+ artisan vendors, sit with great food from the variety of food trucks - and tap your foot or sing along to no less than 2 constantly rotating sound stages. Fabulous! One of my annual pilgrimages....
Filberg is a great festival, this year was my first time but it’s been around for years. It’s famous for its crafts and I got a cool new belt this year, but it was the music that wears really something.
The programmers brought in some really good bands, big rock shows from vancouver we really fun. I was expecting classic rock covers only, but the musicians brought some real talent and passion. Senyue, GNARFUNKEL, Bad Magic, myles from home, John Bryant were all great acts
