Radium Chalet

I have mixed feelings about this motel. The location and view are beautiful, and although you still hear cars from below it was quiet. Had a room with kitchenette, fireplace and balcony. View, although mostly covered by trees was beautiful. Room needs updating and better cleaning. Sign in the kitchen area says to wash your own dishes but no dishcloth was available. Dishes in the cupboard were dusty and some cups were stained with previous liquids, and fridge also had a brown spill stain. Balcony had a small table with a can on it with a cigarette butt (although it's a non-smoking room) and on the other side of balcony were safety glasses from someone removing a glass pane from one of the balcony windows. Mirror at the front room was very cloudy/dirty but otherwise room and lobby seemed clean. The dirty dishes were a concern as I have a feeling the motel does not check cleanliness/sanitation of these between bookings. The 2 staff I spoke with were very nice and helpful. Gave lower service rating only because there was not always staff on premises. However, I was able to reach someone each time I called their number from the lobby phone. Breakfast had a very small item selection but the potatoes, eggs and coffee were still good. Yes, this place is in need of upgrading and definitely better cleanliness but I didn't have any serious issues during my stay.

Be very clear....you're coming for the view.
Hotel is starting to show its patina, but is overall clean and maintained. Some peeling paint and rotting wood on the balcony(I don't care) stayed in a queen bed suite in the Chalet. The view.....mln dollar view...so nice. Continental breakfast is standard fare, but did notice real eggs used for scramble.

Overall solid hotel could use a bit more attention on cleaning to bring it to next level but I would stay again. People really ought to support the private ownership and help the continue to keep this amazing Lil spot alive.
