The hike was beautiful but the falls at the end were a major dissapointment - possibly because they were frozen? You can hear gunshots the whole way from the gun range. My friend and I saw a friendly black bear
Great walk, well worth the destination
Decent hike that is good for getting back into backpacking shape. The falls are nice and you can see the stumps of giant old growth trees. Viewpoints along this trail are not the greatest but can lead to other trails. Took 2 hours round trip for the full loop.
A great hike in Spring or Fall, or in Summer if not too hot. The Lower Loop trail is pretty easy with only a few sections that are a bit more steep. Watch out for bears as they like to meander under the power lines. Be Bear Aware and don’t think about carrying a backpack full of bacon. We did the lower loop up and back with our 2 dogs in about 3hrs. An easy pace with no stops except to take a variety of photos along the way. Only intrusion to the solitude is the sound of gunfire from the gun range for the first half hour or so. The falls are quite nice, as are many of the smaller ones along the route. A few large tree stumps give you an idea of what was once a mighty forest compared to now. A great family hike even for young kids.
Enjoyable hike, if it's your first time and you are not a regular hiker, stick to the lower loop. The upper loop intersects with the lower in three spots, I recommend, given the very steep terrain that you stay away from the last one.
