Had breakfast at Helen's Grill this morning after seeing it was featured in Sandra Bullock's movie "The Unforgivable". If you're looking for an authentic diner experience, then this is the place to go. Great food and friendly staff but most of all the diner aesthetics make you feel like you walked into a time capsule.
CALLING all Vancouverites ,Lower mainlanders and visitors alike....This is MUST SEE, MUST EAT on your dining bucket list.
Meet Nick the owner/operator, host, waiter and all around nice guy! He's so passionate about his diner it litterly is his home away from home. Even during COVID-19 he fought to keep this gem open.
This restaurant has also been featured in a couple of movies and Nick even played a small role along side Sandra Bullock and Jon Bernthol...you can ask Nick when you stop by, I know he'd be happy to tell you about it!
You not only get a great meal at decent prices, you get your money's worth. As you can see from my photos the food is plenty. We had 3 generations all ordered different food and we all left full, happy and will ABSOLUTELY be back again! I especially loved the mini jukeuke boxes at each booth, it only costs a quarter and if you really want to go back in time order a milkshake or an ice cream float. I could go on but you need to check it out for yourself it!💗💗💗💗💗
Love the way the interior looks. They kept how it would have looked back in the day where juke box music could be played at your table.
Food is good!
Service is great!
Went to visit Helen’s Grill. This quiet little restaurant has been in many movies and shows. We have been talking about going for a while and they did not disappoint. We were greeted and seated right away. The coffee was very good. I had an omelette with toast. The food came in a reasonable amount of time. The restaurant had a quiet relaxing feeling. Customers were talking and laughing while playing music on their table jukeboxes. Staff wee friendly and helpful. Great place.
Awesome traditional eatery with old fashioned touches like the original booth seats, counter stools, and even table top jukebox machines! Run by the same family for several decades (apparently the current owner is the nephew of the original proprietor). Shakes are served in a stainless steal malt tumbler (generous size), and beers are in beer mugs. Service is friendly and quick. Great neighborhood joint and very family friendly. We had a tasty NY Steak complete with soup, veggies, garlic bread and creamy potatoes, a Montreal Smoked meat with crispy onion rings (they told me the smoked meat is really from Montreal), and a kid’s pancake breakfast (breakfast is all day on their menu). Portions were more than adequate and at a very fair price. I’m looking forward to my next visit.
