We hiked the trails but didn't do the guided tours. The switchbacks help, and the trails are well maintained, but you definitely need stamina and 'climbing legs'.
There are nice educational signs along the way that you can use to rest without looking lazy or out of shape ("Hey kids, let's read these signs and learn about caves!").
The road is gravel and full of potholes, so it's an adventure to get here, but the remoteness has probably helped keep things less damaged from the worst tourists...
Did the Max Depth adventure with a group of five. Absolute 10/10 experience. We were lucky to have a fairly capable group (shout outs to Trent, Maddie, and Michael), and our guide, Chloe, made an outstanding effort to up the ante and increase the challenge in various fun and exciting ways. The caves were amazing, but Chloe took the experience to the next level, she was utterly fantastic from start to finish. Would highly, highly recommend.
I’ve always wanted to go caving and we’re so glad we did this tour! But almost didn’t go inside hahaha! I was super nervous and panicky when they told us that we had to crawl on our bellies to enter certain areas of the caves. Thankfully our guide was very experienced and patient with me and even stayed with me until I was ready to go inside. I wouldn’t advise anyone who’s extremely claustrophobic to do this. But, if you can muster up the courage to, I highly suggest you do - NO pictures can describe how amazing the caves look in person!!
What an amazing experience! We loved it so much. Climbing the small waterfall, squeezing through the cheese grater, climbing over the saddle and dropping into the hole looked terrifying but our guide was great and it was not only easy but a lot of fun!
My brother and I had such a great time on the max depth tour today. The caves were amazing, so many cool formations and it was a lot of fun to move through with the crawl throughs and repels. Oscar our guide was fantastic with all of his cave details and upbeat attitude.
