“Such a cute spot. Fantastic coffee. Fresh baked goodies and a spectacular view. We were really happy to find this spot. They also have breakfast and lunch options (can accomodate vegan as well) which was helpful cause we had veggies in our group!”

“The velvet underground has to be one of the coolest shops in whistler. Their social media presence is what drew me in. With their amazing daily styling inspiration, and their numerous posts on educating us about ways to help marginalized communities, it really made me feel like part of a community before I had even experienced the shop in person. When I got in for my first time I was really taken back by how many local artists the shop features and how the shop owner does her best to find and display BIPOC owned small businesses. The clothes were all on point, and great condition. And the cafe was vegan so obviously that was a huge selling point. And to walk around in the shop seeing all the healthy happy plants totally made my mood 100x better. Thanks for taking the time to carefully curate this whole shopping experience!”

“I've rated this a 3/5 on customer service, cleanliness, flavor, presentation, and atmosphere. First I'll star off with the not so good: Customer service and cleanliness. We had a very "rough around the edges" type server that seemed to not know where to draw the line with his comments and secondly, unaware how to problem solve. We had a bit of a mix up with our meal, and he stayed "yeah, so I saw that, but I didn't order it like that. It's the kitchens fault" and sauntered off. We felt under appreciated for the business we brought, especially as these were gusts to whistler. Secondly, I'll address cleanliness. It seemed not to be a priority to keep the establishment clutter free, and clean. I witnessed the waiters spraying tables and wiping them with clothes dropped on the floor, fingers in food as it was being delivered to other tables, and a 60% chance the utensils were not cleaned well. Now, let's get to the atmosphere. It had a diner feel. Nothing to fancy or classy. Just a place you'd go to get a quick bite and head out. Nothing that leaves a lasting impression. Lastly, flavour and creativity. This is wild wood cafes saving grace. The food was flavourful and plentiful. Presentation was well done, adding slight creativity to each dish.”

“Cheaky's Cafe is a nice little cafe in the lobby of the HI Whistler hostel. They are open from 7 am to 2 pm and have a limited menu of English muffins, panini, toast with butter, peanut butter or jam, cereal, oatmeal, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cold drinks. Lunch is offered in the afternoon menu and includes four or five main dishes, Canadian style. Service is very courteous and rates are quite reasonable. It is a lifeline to the hostel residents for breakfast or those staying around the Cheakamus Crossing area because there are no other regular restaurants around.”
